Hello fantastic families of Lane Middle School! Hope this email finds you well!

This week in Math:
For the next two weeks we will focus on the following common core standards: 6.NS.5, 6.NS.6, 6.NS.7, 6.NS.8, 6.G3.  Students will focus on plotting points, answering questions about quadrants, reflecting those points along the x and y axis, creating a polygons on a coordinate grid and finding the perimeter and area of their polygons and explaining the use of absolute value in calculating distances. Then we will start our next book, Covering and Surroundings.

Homework:
Students will have a coordinate grid graphing project. This will be due on Wednesday November 26th.

Just a reminder, students had a Math Storybook/Comic Strip Homework project, due on Monday November 23rd.
Math Storybook/Comic Strip Homework Project
Who: Ms. Silas’ Math Students’
What it Means: The idea of this project is for students to create a storybook or comic strip for younger students to assist them in understanding mathematics. A good storybook/comic strip should be colorfully illustrated and legible.
What Must Be Done: Students will have to create a storybook or comic strip this is at least 10 pages/frames long. It must be colorfully illustrated, legible, and present a fundamental concept discussed in this year’s math class. This book or comic strip does not have to be made out of anything expensive, but it must look professional.

Important Dates:
November 27-28  | Thanksgiving Holiday | No School

Have a wonderful week!
